Under the hood

Overview

You do not need to know how Landbase works under the hood to use it, but a quick look helps you trust what it gives you. Three pieces sit behind every list you build: the data lab shapes raw, outside-in data into reliable profiles, the waterfall fills in verified contact details like email and phone, and execution turns the finished list into real outreach. This lesson covers each one, in order, and what it does for you.

The data lab

Go-to-market data is messy. It comes from many sources that often conflict, and it goes stale the moment someone changes jobs or a company grows. Most tools scrape it once and leave it to age, which is why bought lists are full of wrong titles and dead emails. Landbase is built the opposite way: the data lab, a team of data specialists backed by an automated system, cleans the data, merges those conflicting sources into one reliable profile per company and person, and refreshes it on a regular schedule, so you always work from what is true now.

What happens there

  • The same company or person often shows up across many data sources. Landbase cleans, matches, and merges them into one profile, with duplicates removed, so you see a single accurate record instead of piecing together scattered entries yourself.
  • When sources report different facts, like three of them listing different headcounts, Landbase does not guess. It keeps the value that its most trusted sources and other signals agree on.
  • The data is refreshed on a regular schedule and each version is tracked, so records reflect what is true now, and a list you build today can be rebuilt exactly later.

The waterfall

The waterfall is how Landbase finds the contact details that make a list usable, such as a verified work email or a phone number.

How it works

Rather than relying on a single source, the waterfall checks more than 20 data providers in order. When the first does not have a verified result, it moves to the next, and it keeps going until it finds one or runs out. Each result is verified before it is added to your list.

Why it matters

  • Coverage is higher, because more contacts come back with usable details.
  • Accuracy is better, since every result is verified before it reaches you.
  • Waste is lower, because you are not paying for or sending to bad data.
Tip
Phone numbers are harder to find and verify than emails, so enrich phone only when you plan to call. You will practice enrichment hands-on in Base Camp.

Execution

Execution is the final step, where a finished, enriched list turns into real outreach and starts driving pipeline.

What execution looks like

  • Push the contacts into an email campaign.
  • Load them into a dialer for calls.
  • Hand the list to your CRM and existing tools.

Because building, enriching, and acting all live in one place, you can move from deciding who to reach to actually reaching them without exporting between tools.
